Hey, look, I know things are a mess. I took a hiatus from blogging and decided to switch up my design before returning. Please be patient, because if you can wait out the mess it means REGULAR POSTING WILL RETURN SOON! :D

GIVEAWAY!

This giveaway has ended.

Deann over at Motivated Moms has most generously agreed to provide a free copy of the Motivated Moms Planner to one lucky reader (see my ongoing reviews: part 1, part 2, part 3)!!!

Here's all you have to do to:

1. Leave a comment on one of the following:
  • Why you feel you need a little extra help taking care of your home
  • Why you feel it's important to keep one's home orderly and clean (or as orderly and clean as possible)
  • A chore you HATE and how you've motivated yourself to do it
  • Your favorite chore (I like cleaning mirrors, and sometimes vacuuming*)
2. Wait a week.

On Monday, January 12 I will announce the winner (who will be chosen at random from all the entries). The winner will have her (or his) pick of the 8 different planner formats (my personal favorite is the half sized with Bible readings).

Good luck!

And a big THANK YOU to Deann!

*I loathed vacuuming as a kid. But it's hard not to enjoy vacuuming at least a little bit when you've got one of these.

I actually don't mind cleaning the bathroom, maybe because I don't really like dirty bathroom. The floor on the other hand just doesn't get mopped as often as it should, probably because the only time I can do it is when little man is sleeping.

Well between school, work and motherhood things just don't always get done in a timely manner. I am a planner freak of nature however, I think it would be helpful to have one that kept me on track with cleaning the house. I wear too many hats and sometimes there are just not enough hours in the day. :(

I hate the general picking up we all have to do, you know, basically just walking after the kids as they leave their trail of destruction. But I now have an ipod (thanks to my hubby) and that has made chores SO much better, I just rock out as I am cleaning. I am so waiting for the day for someone to walk in on me and find me looking like a total idiot.

I have always seemed to have a hard time keeping up with the house so it stays clean. I find it hard to get motivated every day to get it done, especially when it is so far gone to start with.

My favorite chore is vacuuming, I have a Rainbow and love it! (I actually get a little cranky if someone tries to do my vacuuming :p)
I recently had my 4th little one (Dec 8th), and as a fairly unorganized person I could use a little extra help with chore planning etc.!
I really notice a difference in how I feel and how we interact as a family when the house is clean vs when it's not.

Why do I need help? 3 KIDS UNDER 4!! And now, because I must be glutton for punishment, we've added a 120 pound dog to the mix!! I need more than just a little extra help!

I read the sample pages of Motivated Mom's planner and thought to myself "I haven't ever done some of these things". Clearly I don't know what needs to be done. Some things are more obvious than others, but if I'm ever in a cleaning mood I tend to only clean what's visibly dirty. My favorite thing to do is de-clutter. It makes a big diffrence and doesn't involve scrubbing anything.

I've started keeping up with my housework just this past week when the New Year happened. It's stayed clean for almost 4 days and I feel really out of place in it. While a messy house kept me worrying about something, a clean house makes me anxious! I need to learn to feel comfortable in a clean home.
Anyway, this next part is going to sound sappy (warning).
I've been feeling more pressure to keep a clean house from the Spirit. I don't know what it is: RS lessons, Gen. Conference this past October, the Last Days... but I keep feeling that my home needs to be a place of rest and refuge and that I should get it into order so it can serve its purpose as a temple for our family. As for a chore I hate that I've learned to control (this is where it might get really sappy): dishes. How have I tackled them? I've downloaded the General Conference talks from October on my iPod and I listen to them as I do the dishes. I know one lady who says she listens to the "Women who know" talk every time she does housework because it reminds her that she's doing a great thing to keep her home tidied. That's actually where I got the idea. This way, I don't feel like a total failure for not always reading my scriptures daily- at least I listened to the living scriptures for a part of the day. :)

My favorite chore? decluttering. I love love love throwing things away. It makes me happy to own less stuff.

I hope that answered all your questions. I've heard about the Motivated Moms stuff and am very interested- I'll go check out the site.

I would love to win this. I like keeping my home organized because I feel like it keeps my entire life more organized. When things are cluttered, I feel like I can't get stuff done. When my home is clean, I feel inspired to do more.
