The Great Job Hunt of 2010
Thanks to Twitter yours truly has a job interview on Wednesday. Hooray! I’ll tell you more about the job if I get it. But I will say this…I really, really, really, really, really want this position. It’s pretty much perfect for me right now and I love the business for which I’d be working.
I had tweeted that I was starting my search for part-time work. I planned on submitting about a bajillion applications around town this week at the usual places…grocery stores, fast food joints, <insert menial labor position here>. Michael’s was my first choice, until I was offered the interview I have Wednesday. So I’ve got my fingers tightly crossed.
Aaaaand, just because I love it and am proud of how cheap I got it {$41 not including the cost of footwear}, here’s the outfit I’m wearing to my interview:
See, until yesterday I owned two pairs of pants {khakis and jeans}. I used to own a pair of work pants.
But then I got pregnant.
Bye-bye nice dress pants.
So now my closet pretty much consists of all casual clothes {t-shirts…lots and lots of t-shirts} that are either a: too small from before Lucy or b: too big from after Lucy. Not suitable for interviews. So I hit the mall. And it was a success if I do say so myself {and I do}. I was clueless and terrified to try and find something fashionable. I’ve been out of the style loop for several years now. But, wouldn’t you know it, clothing stores have people in them that know about clothes and will help you pull together an outfit! Apparently it’s like, their job or something. Who’d have guessed? I loved the gal that helped me out…and I loved her even more when she informed me during checkout that the pants I found were actually only $6! Score!
Anyhow, that’s that. Wish me luck!
Did I Mention I Love Holly-themed Stuff?
Adam got me this headband from my Etsy wish list as part of my birthday present {he also got me some pretty slippers}. I think it’s fantastic. I can’t wait to wear it out and about.
Come back tomorrow for another Christmas photo for the December Photo Challenge.
Red Alert
A drama of international importance has been unfolding of which you may not be aware. You see, the United States and Russia are allies these days, even if there’s still reluctance to be friends comrades. But it seems POTUS doesn’t trust the Russians one bit. In fact, he has a plan to carry out an attack on Russia which would leave Moscow completely levelled. How? With the super weapon hidden under Mt. Rushmore of course! This attack will destroy our alliance and certainly lead Russia to retaliate. I don’t know about you, but I have no desire to see what angry Russians are capable of.*
But don’t worry, my husband has us covered.
He’s undertaken a mission to destroy the super weapon before the President’s limo can arrive at the launch site. He won’t let us down. The scantily clad women** working for the military certainly seem to have faith in him. And so do I (though while wearing more clothes). This mission is just too important. Failure simply isn’t an option.
And on the off chance that he does fail he can always click the “Try Again” button.
Do you or your husband play video games? Which ones? Are you ever amazed at how cheesy the storyline is? Tell me all about it in the comments.
*I’ve seen Red Dawn. Not even Patrick Swayze can stop pissed-off Russians!
**Come on now, are those really the standard uniforms these days?
Why I Am the Coolest Mom (and how you can be too)!
Aren't they gorgeous? I especially love the 1st birthday outfit {note to self...Lucy needs a 1st birthday party outfit}! Problem is...I don't have that kind of money to spend on dress up clothes (no matter how much they make me squeal like a little girl breathing helium). So...
I prayed at the altar of Google.
And my prayers have been answered!
I couldn't wait to make a tutu myself so I decided to make one for Lucy to wear at her six month photo session later this month. I recommend getting more tulle than the video suggests. I barely had enough to finish Lucy's, which is smaller than a two-year-old's would be. You really can finish this project in under an hour (unless you have a fussy baby interrupting you constantly--but I wouldn't know anything about that). It should cost just ten dollars or so for all the materials (not including scissors and a ruler which you really should already own).
For my colors I chose purple and tangerine.
And the results for so little effort are amazing!
I'm thinking I should use the scraps to make some sort of hair bow for the photo shoot.
I think Lucy thought it was a little funny!
Make one, or two, or three, or twenty of these for your daughters, nieces, granddaughters, neighbors, you name it! They're cheap. They're easy. And they would make the perfect gift for the little girl you know! Try experimenting with color patterns, tulle length or width, a Bedazzler, or anything else you can think of. Maybe even make one for yourself (Halloween will be here before you know it)! You are going to be the coolest mom!
ETA: If you want to keep the ribbon (not the tulle) from fraying carefully run the end over a lighter or lit candle. The edge will seal itself.

Do NOT Enter This Giveaway
It's been about 3.5 months since I gave birth. The only swimsuit I own is a second hand maternity suit that didn't fit all that well to begin with. I would really like a swimsuit that I'm comfortable being seen in because I would like to take Baby Lu to the pool this summer. So when I saw this giveaway on The Meanest Mom I was very excited. I get an extra entry by blogging about it. But please, for my sake, don't enter! ;)
